Inner Nature Renewal

Beloved friends in Christ,

In Psalm 46:5 God’s Word gives us comfort as we seek to be His ambassadors in the time of Corona:

God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved

It’s important to keep our inside intact because “though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed everyday”(2 Cor.4:16). I asked some of my Born-again Christian friends in Cairo how they are doing and they say that things are getting tougher in Egypt and a friend or a relative of theirs dies each day of Corona. A day doesn’t go by without giving condolences to one another and fear is prevailing. Muslims take this as a sign that Allah is angry, he’s always angry after all and holding people to the standard of man-made perfection, or they get punished by hellfire. The Christians in Egypt sadly are sometimes not far from this attitude, wondering if God is punishing them so that they might repent. To me this is not any more punishment than a flu or any other virus. Ours is the God of redemption and He’s always in the business of saving souls. It’s a time for me to slow down, quiet myself down and seek refuge in the Father within, the God of my life and my personal Savior. In 1987 when I was found to have given up Islam and converted into Christianity, that was the time I read the Bible and memorized big portions of more than any other time of my life. While it was a time of suffering, rejection and persecution, the Lord drew me closer and closer to Him. It is good for me to draw near to God; Lord, I have put my trust in Thee (Psalm 73:28). It is in the quality of life that I live, living fully for Him and pointing others, especially Muslims, to the Giver of Life Himself, our Lord Jesus. When we turn just to ourselves, we exhaust all we’ve got and we start running on empty and life becomes empty and void. But when we turn to our Father, the Word of Christ dwelling richly in us (Col. 3:16), we are drawing upon the inexhaustible Source and we continue to get filled by God Himself and no news can get to us no matter how bad it is. It’s all about the Lord and here on earth we are His missionaries sent on for a task, to bring conversion of hearts to thousands and millions of Muslims. May He continue to equip us for His missionary work among Muslims so that one He takes us in His beloved arms with the affirmation, well done, good and faithful servant (Matt. 25:23). May you always continue to behold His goodness and abundance each day of your life!

Because Christ is Victor,
